Alfred Gockel Opening |
Gockel’s exhibition draws a stylish crowd
Saturday June 23 2007
There was a definite buzz for the opening of Gockels first solo exhibition in Ireland and Britain at the newly opened Gallery 23 in Dublin on Wednesday evening.
Alex worked on a special painting live on the night which he is donating to Dove Ball in aid of ISPCC in October.
Alex Gockel was born in Ludinghausen, Germany and is one of the world’s most influential contemporary artists. His exhibition Crossing Boundaries is a series of paintings based on his travels to Ireland over the years.
He has been coming here for more than 10 years to fly fish. Alex is passionate about the environment and this is reflected in his upcoming exhibition.
Clodagh Kean herself, in black Armani, was there looking brilliant and liased with Alex on the design of the painting for the auction. Also impressed by Gockel’s work were Tess and Anette Rocca, the latter in a great Fendi number, Penny Dix from the ISPCC, Tara Logan and Mary Coffee.
Newly appointed Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan turned up for his first official engagement since his recent appointment. Gallery owners Greg and Karl Muldowney hosted the wonderful evening with the help of their partners. Greg’s wife is Councillor Brenda Clifford and she looked great in towering Jimmy Choo heels.
Also present were Ashlee Dickinson, Anne Boylan, Bernard and Patrick Rocca, Rebecca Rabitte, FM104′s Niamh Crowley, Stephan Mallaghan and Richard Pearson
