SUE HOWELL DUBLIN SCENES Exclusive to Gallery 23

Sue Howells is one of  Uks and Irelands best loved and most successful artists. Regularly  among the top ten artists in the Epson/Art Business Today Best selling Images Poll, her success in this years Best- Selling Published Artist Award, an honour that is based on Guild retailers members nominations of their most consistently selling artists, is testament to her ever increasing popularity.

Howells takes inspiration for her amusing, quirky street scenes from artists as diverse as LS Lowry, CR Nevison, John and Paul Nash Franz Marc and Auguste Macke.

Gallery 23 is especially proud of its relationship with Sue. To honour this relationship Gallery 23 commissioned Sue to Capture the essence of Dublin through her unique perception and understanding of its beautiful streets and the intimate relationship it has with the people who pass through them everyday. There is also an Irish connection Sues father was from Killorglan Co Kerry. Unfortunately he died in the fifties but Sue recently visited her fathers hometown. That along with her first solo exhibition held  in Gallery 23 last year (click here for more details)has given her renewed inspiration to start painting a series of cottage paintings which for those who are familiar with her work, is definitely something to look forward to.

“Nothing in my pictures is real, everything is off-kilter, which generates an energy that seems to appeal.”

Each Edition is hand signed by the artist  limited to 195 and presented in a conservation double Ivory Mount.
